Dr Matheesha Ranaweera MBBS(Adel) FRACGP is a practicing medical practitioner and vasectomy doctor at Nambour Clinic Family Medicine. Born in Sri Lanka and raised in both rural and metropolitan Queensland, he moved to Adelaide to complete undergraduate medical training.
After attaining a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Adelaide, Dr Ranaweera worked in both surgical and medical units at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. On moving back to Queensland he worked throughout the state in both General Surgery and Urological Surgery prior to attaining fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. As an educator, Dr Ranaweera is an associate lecturer and clinical examiner with the University of Queensland.
He became involved in vasectomy when working with a fellow vasectomy doctor in Brisbane who practiced the traditional vasectomy technique involving two incisions made by scalpel either side of the scrotum. Having been interested in learning no-scalpel vasectomy, Dr Ranaweera completed further vasectomy training in the United States. Dr Ranaweera is happy to offer both no-scalpel vasectomy and no-needle, no-scalpel vasectomy (The Gentle Touch™) to patients through his rooms at Nambour.
